Blackburn still paying part of Ian Poveda Leeds wages, expected to return to Ewood Park - report

Blackburn Rovers are still paying part of Leeds United winger Ian Poveda’s wages this season, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The newspaper have reported on their website that the loan spell has not been ended despite the Whites’ starlet back at Thorp Arch with injury.

Tony Mowbray has shared that Poveda is still expected back at Ewood Park to play his part before the end of the Championship season.

Crisis talks were held after Poveda suffered the serious injury.

It is said those involved discussions regarding the loan spell being cut short, but that decision wasn’t made.

Mowbray admitted that Poveda completing his rehabilitation at Leeds is perfect due to his living arrangements during the spell.

Once the rehab is completed, it looks as though the winger will be shipped back to Ewood Park with Rovers pushing for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

Future?

It’s hard to see Poveda having much of a future at Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa has rarely used the former Manchester City talent, and him being shipped away from the club in a season where injuries have been rife, prove that he is nowhere near the first team.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville have stepped up, and it looks as though the Dutchman is ahead of him.

With injuries continuing, Leeds could have used this injury as a chance to terminate the loan and have Poveda available towards the end of the season.

That doesn’t look as though it will happen, with another exit likely in his future.
