Everton are reportedly closing in on the signature of Blackburn Rovers striker and Leeds United target Ben Brereton Diaz.

According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, the Championship club are expecting Leeds and other clubs to come in for the Chile international before the end of the window.

It’s understood that they’re demanding £15million for the 23-year-old who enjoyed a goal-laden 2021/22 campaign in the English second tier.

Move quickly

Everton may not be able to afford him now but in a few days, they may have extra money to spend and could sign the Chilean then.

Anthony Gordon has been linked with a big-money move to Chelsea and his sale would force the Toffees into entering the market.

While Diaz isn’t a like for like player, they have not replaced Richarlison yet so it’s important for them to sign a striker.

The same can be said about Leeds who are prioritsing a striker this summer, but thus far, have failed in their efforts to bring in one.

They have been unsuccessful in their pursuits of Charles De Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo and will not want to miss out on another target.

They are in much better shape than Everton and arguably have a better backroom structure in place so Diaz should fancy a move to Elland Road over Goodison Park this summer.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could make a final push for an international striker after he was left out of his side’s matchday squad over the weekend.
