Billy Gilmour and John Terry send messages to Lewis Bate after Leeds United move
Leeds United have snapped up England youth international midfielder Lewis Bate from Chelsea on a three-year deal.
The 18-year-old was allowed to leave Stamford Bridge after refusing to pen a new deal, and will be initially linking up with the Whites under-23s.
Bate has taken to his personal Instagram account to send his goodbyes to Chelsea and announce his Leeds move, and Blues legend John Terry and midfielder Billy Gilmour have sent him their best wishes.
One for the future
Bate spent a decade with Chelsea and he comes highly-rated having captained the side in the 2020 FA Youth Cup final.
He featured in 20 Premier League 2 Division 1 games last term and will be hoping to impress with the newly-promoted Leeds under-23s next season and force his way into the plans of first-team head coach Marcelo Bielsa.
The future is bright for Bate and we cannot wait to see him make his debut for the senior side.
The Whites youth side won the Premier League 2 Division 2 last season, and will be aiming to win the Division 1 in 2021-22.
The addition of the Chelsea academy graduate to their squad would help boost their chances, and the midfielder can play a huge role after coming close with the Blues last term.
We have made five additions so far this summer, with Bate joining Junior Firpo, Jack Harrison, Shaun McGurk and Amari Miller, and one or two more first-team signings are expected to be sealed before the end of the summer transfer window.
