Ian Poveda has claimed that the reintroduction of fans will give Leeds United a massive boost in the Premier League.
The government placed West Yorkshire in Tier 3, meaning no fans can return as of yet, but Chelsea will have 2,000 supporters at Stamford Bridge next week.
The young winger passionately admitted that he can already imagine Elland Road cheering the squad on towards the end of games this season.
Poveda is excited at the potential of fans returning but did admit that the current situation is very upsetting for the Whites.
“It’s not the same playing without the fans,” he told LUTV.
“Without them, we’re nothing, so we’re just hoping the Coronavirus goes down and the fans can start coming to the stadiums and supporting us.
“I feel like they’ll have a big, big impact on our game and it’ll just push us even more. I’m excited but it’s upsetting they’re not there with us.”
Elland Road just isn’t same without thousands of fans cheering on Leeds as they push for a winner in games such as the one against Arsenal.
Our first taste of fans returning will be at Chelsea next week, and it will be interesting to see how each club react to this significant change.
Leeds won’t be able to welcome anyone back until at least Christmas, meaning that they likely won’t be present for the must-win games against West Ham and Newcastle.
Poveda’s passion was clear to see in this clip, and if the squad share this, then the return of fans will give the Whites more than a massive impact this season – bring it on.
