Bielsa confirms crushing blow for Leeds United ace Adam Forshaw
Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has suffered yet another injury setback.
It seemed as though Forshaw, 29, was finally close to being able to play competitive senior football again when he played for the Under-23s last week.
However, as relayed by Phil Hay, Bielsa has confirmed the ex-Middlesbrough man suffered a “muscle strain” while playing for the Under-23s and no timescale has been put on his recovery just yet.
Not again
Forshaw has to be one of the unluckiest players to have ever played for Leeds United.
The midfielder hasn’t played since the start of last season due to a serious hip injury that was only fixed by surgery several months later.
Forshaw looked very good at the start of last season too, which is one of the most annoying things because we were looking forward to being able to see how Bielsa could transform a player who was so often criticised before the Argentine’s arrival.
Unfortunately, almost two whole seasons without a competitive senior game is likely to damage Forshaw’s career.
It’s harsh to say it and will no doubt be tough for Forshaw to swallow but we just don’t ever see him playing for us again.
The 29-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season so Leeds will be faced with a few tough choices in the upcoming summer transfer window. Sell him, released him or keep him.
If they keep him, they gamble on paying the wage of someone who may never play again.
It’s pretty obvious that they need to get rid of Forshaw by whatever means necessary and that’s not just for the club’s sake, it’s also for his.
