Beren Cross shares Leeds United stance after reported Swansea striker Joel Piroe approach

Leeds United are not reportedly pursuing a move for Swansea striker Joel Piroe despite recent claims to the contrary on deadline day.

According to LeedsLive reporter Beren Cross, a move for the Dutch striker is not on the cards for the Whites ahead of 11pm.

This comes after Wales Online reporter Ian Mitchelmore reported that the Whites have made an approach to sign the 23-year-old.

Via Twitter, Cross rubbished this and wrote, “Not where Leeds United wanted to be with three hours to go. It’s always Dan James and deadline days. Joel Piroe not understood to be under consideration.”

All summer, Leeds have wanted a new striker and with less than two hours to go before the transfer deadline, they have failed to sign one.

The late interest in Piroe gave fans some hope after they’ve seen three positive pursuits on deadline day come to no nothing.

It started with Wolves snubbing any attempt to sign Hwang Hee-chan in this window which saw them go for Cody Gakpo next.

However, even PSV refused to let go of the Netherlands international for the price Leeds were willing to offer.

All looked good when Bamba Dieng was on his way to the United Kingdom, but he then saw his move hijacked by Nice who are now set to sign the player.

Leeds are paying the price for their delays in the window and we cannot understand why they let it drag on until so late.
