Beren Cross shares big Leeds boost over Llorente and Firpo
Leeds United crashed to a disappointing 4-0 defeat against Ajax on Wednesday evening as they continued their pre-season.
The Whites were without a number of their first-team players though with Junior Firpo, Diego Llorente and Kalvin Phillips not included.
Beren Cross has shared an injury update on the first two, and it appears to be brilliant news for Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking on Facebook for Leeds Live after the game, the reliable journalist claimed both knocks were only minor.
“What I’ve been told they are just minor knocks,” he said.
“We’ll hopefully hear from Bielsa a couple of days before the Man United game and I’m sure if they are for whatever reason missing from the Villareal match, I’m sure before Old Trafford, he will explain.
“From what I’m told, it’s not a huge concern which is great, great news.”
All eyes will be on the Villareal game on Saturday, but we wouldn’t read too much into that one.
Should Firpo and Llorente miss out, it may be as a precaution that will allow them to reach full fitness before the Premier League opener.
The Spanish duo starting against Manchester United would be a “huge” boost, just as Cross labelled the updates.
Bielsa will want them both available and starting having shined in the game against Real Betis at times in that opening 45 minutes.
There is no hiding that this would be a huge task to go to Old Trafford and perform as we did at Anfield last season, but having these two available would surely help.
