Beren Cross: Marcelo Bielsa has ‘massive call’ to make in Leeds squad
Beren Cross has suggested that Marcelo Bielsa has a “massive call” to make in his Leeds United squad in the Premier League.
Liam Cooper is currently suspended after his red card against Manchester City, and there is some doubt over his immediate return next week.
The Scotsman has been replaced by Pascal Struijk and will return against Spurs after the Brighton clash this weekend, something Cross is doubting.
Speaking on West Yorkshire Sport Daily on Tuesday evening, Cross shed light on the current defensive situation at Elland Road.
“It’s going to be a massive call for him to make,” he said.
“When they go into that Spurs game, of course, Cooper is missing Brighton, and I think he’s going to have to deliver one of these brilliant training performances that we saw previously when Bielsa brought him back in.
“Struijk and Llorente have not put a foot wrong.”
No brainer.
Despite Cooper being the captain of the squad, he simply can’t return to the team with how they are performing at this moment in time.
Struijk has joined Diego Llorente against Liverpool and Manchester United, and both have been phenomenal against two of the best attacks in the Premier League.
It would take something catastrophic against Brighton this weekend for this defence to be switched up, with Bielsa surely delighted with how his team is performing.
There was surprise when Cooper replaced Struijk last time after his injury, and it would likely turn into shock if he was to return once again.
