Beren Cross: Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford to return to Leeds United squad v Brentford

Leeds United duo Luke Ayling and Patrick Bamford are set to return to the squad for the Premier League clash against Brentford.

That’s according to Leeds Live journalist Beren Cross, who shared the brilliant news ahead of another must-win game for the Whites.

Both Ayling and Bamford have been missing since the 1-1 draw against Newcastle, and made their comebacks for the under-23s against Manchester City this week (29th November).

Writing on his personal Twitter account on Friday morning (3rd December), Cross shared the latest on the squad.

“Speaking to Bielsa for an early one in a little over an hour,” he wrote.

“Koch and Struijk the only injuries to check in on. Ayling and Bamford set to return to the squad on Sunday.”

Perfect.

It looks as though the Leeds squad could finally be at near full-strength for the must-win game against Brentford.

With Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool to come after this one, picking up another three points may be critical.

Ayling and Bamford have been missing since September and their absences have hit the squad hard, that’s clear to see.

Having both on the bench would be brilliant, but given that Bamford played 90 minutes for the under-23s, could he start? It’s a real possibility.

Tyler Roberts earned a rare start in the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace last time out, and we believe he has earned the right to keep that spot for now.

It won’t be long until Bamford is breathing down his neck, though.
