Diego Llorente was left fuming with Leeds United star Raphinha during the 2-1 victory against Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.
Beren Cross was at Elland Road and claimed that the Spanish international wasn’t happy with the rare sloppiness of the winger.
Raphinha was instrumental to the victory yet again and played a massive role when assisting the opening goal from Jack Harrison.
Writing in his Leeds Live column, Cross shared a behind-the-scenes view on Llorente fuming his superstar teammate during the win.
“Diego Llorente, as he did at Fulham, was not afraid to let his team-mates know when they were in the wrong or had left the team in a mess on Saturday,” he wrote.
“In the 59th minute on Saturday, with Leeds holding onto a narrow one-goal lead, the Brazilian misplaced a pass and gifted possession to Sheffield United, allowing them to counter with the hosts out of shape.
“With danger averted he was sure to let Raphinha know what kind of mess he had dropped everyone in with such a tight lead still.”
Llorente has been superb after finally shaking off all of his injury troubles at Elland Road, and is now developing into a real leader.
Marcelo Bielsa has kept the Spaniard in his starting XI despite the likes of Liam Cooper, Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch coming into the fold.
Raphinha has been excellent since arriving, but he does often have lapses in concentration, and although he does everything to get it back.
Llorente will know that he needs to keep his teammates in check when needed, and this level of motivation is exactly what he is brought into do.
The defender has been superb, and these are the sort of players we need to be bringing in as we look to improve in the Premier League.
