Ben Dinnery: Leeds United star Stuart Dallas could have ACL or MCL damage as well as broken femur

Ben Dinnery has suggested that Leeds United star Stuart Dallas could have serious knee ligament damage as well as his broken femur.

The injury expert shared that the Northern Irishman could have damage to his ACL or MCL as well as the huge blow.

Dallas looks set for months, if not an entire year on the sidelines after undergoing surgery and scans in London.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Dinnery shared the worst possible scenario that keeps on going.

“Typically, high-energy, high-impact injuries,” he wrote. “It’s the strongest bone in the body.

“I don’t recall seeing this mechanism in football. Often accompanied by an injury to adjacent joints, suspect, there will be knee ligament damage as well – possibly ACL / MCL.”

Shocking.

This is dreadful news and it could have happened to a better person.

Dallas is the heart of this entire side at Elland Road, and it is no doubt a huge blow to our chances of staying in the Premier League.

We don’t want to assume the worst, of course, but could this be an injury that could end Dallas’ career? There aren’t many worst things that could have happened.

The femur is the strongest bone in the body, so having that break as well as potential knee ligament damage will take long-term rehabilitation after recovery alone.

Junior Firpo is now set to start the final four games of the season, and given his underwhelming start to life at the club, he needs to step up.

Jesse Marsch and the squad cannot sit around and feel sorry for themselves, or even Dallas at this stage, they have to use him as motivation.

Let’s stay up for Stuey.
