BBC pundit: Patrick Bamford may not immediately return to Leeds United XI

Don Hutchison believes that Patrick Bamford could be benched by Leeds United after he returns to full fitness.

The BBC pundit has been stunned by Rodrigo’s performances in front of goal this season and he’s already the leading scorer in the Premier League.

He liked his performance in the 3-0 win against Chelsea on Sunday as well and Hutchison thinks he’s done enough to now lead the line ahead of Bamford.

Speaking on Premier League Productions’ Matchday Extra, “It’s a test for Bamford to get back into the side now. I don’t see it happening immediately. Rodrigo has been incredible.”

Fair point

Bamford has not looked too sharp this season and with Luis Sinisterra now back, we see him playing on the right with Jack Harrison on the left and Brenden Aaronson playing as a 10.

This means that Rodrigo will have just one available spot left and we think it’s time he’s given a run as a striker.

He is on a red-hot streak of scoring in each game this season and there’s no reason to bring Bamford back if the players around him are working in tandem.

Despite being a fan favourite, Bamford has injury issues and it makes no sense to risk him right back, playing this high-octane style of football.

All eyes will be on Jesse Marsch’s press conference and even if he declares the Englishman fit, he’s likely to be named on the bench over the weekend.

The Whites do take on Barnsley in the EFL Cup in the middle of the week and we do not see Marsch fielding a strong team for that one so Rodrigo could be given a rest as well.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites could make a final push for an international striker after he was left out of his side’s matchday squad over the weekend.
