BBC pundit delivers verdict on Leeds incident v Fulham that had fans fuming
Leeds United had yet another goal ruled out for a marginal offside in the game against Fulham at Craven Cottage tonight.
Tyler Roberts put a smart cross in after just eight minutes that Luke Ayling met with a brilliant header into the top corner, over the goalkeeper.
However, VAR adjudged Roberts’ shoulders to be offside as he leant into the play, with his feet onside.
Leeds fans were spitting feathers after other marginal decisions have gone against us this season with various other body parts adjudged offside.

BBC pundit Matt Upson sided with the Leeds fans.
He said on the live blog on the BBC, “It was tight. He just edged his upper body, he was leaning, his feet were onside – which is another whole debate.
“It’s harsh to penalise them for minuscule offsides for having your body weight where you want to run.
“It was really well finished, a well-controlled header. But Fulham will breathe a sigh of relief.”
Joyless
VAR is slowly sucking all the joy out of the game.
You want proof, look at the image above.
This was Luke Ayling’s first Premier League goal and he let his hair down to celebrate.
Then VAR got involved. The lines didn’t look straight again, although if you’re going to go by a player’s shoulders he was probably just offside.
No one seems to want goals to be disallowed for these sort of marginal calls, except for the people behind desks.
We hope it gets changed for next season and that Ayling gets another chance to rock out to a goal.
Back to this game, Patrick Bamford gave Leeds the lead with an emphatic finish that VAR couldn’t do anything about before Fulham equalised and kept the London curse hovering over us for the second half.
There’s a big second 45 in front of us now.
