Report: Leeds approach Celtic over move for Vincent Angelini
Leeds United have approached Celtic over a move for young keeper Vincent Angelini, according to Stretty News.
That report claims Man United had scouted him but have now withdrawn their interest.
It claims that Leeds, along with Everton, Fulham and Brighton have all made recent enquiries about the 17-year-old.
According to the Daily Record, Angelini, who is out of contract in the summer, has turned down a new deal and will quit the Scottish club.
They would be due compensation for the player who has come up through their youth ranks.
The Daily Record claims that Brighton have asked for permission for the youngster to join them for training.
They said that the “starlet awaits Brighton training green light”.
Future is bright at Leeds
Angelini would likely be for the Under-23s to start with and Leeds is a very attractive club to sign for as a youngster at the moment.
19-year-old Elia Caprile has been on the bench for the Leeds first-team this season when Kiko Casilla was dropped.
And there’s a huge amount of synergy between the Under-23s and the first-team.
From the report, it sounds as if Brighton are the most advanced of the clubs who are after Angelini, but there’s a string of suitors waiting for him and Celtic obviously didn’t want to lose him.
Leeds are really investing in youth as they continue the long-term project under Andrea Radrizzani and Marcelo Bielsa.
Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Cody Drameh have all been brought in on fairly big-money deals for the Under-23s.
The Leeds Under-23 side is currently way out on top of Division 2 in Premier League 2 and should be playing in the top division next season.
