BBC journalist shares update on injured Leeds player with progress to be made next week
Injured Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw is set to come off his crutches next week, according to BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope.
Forshaw, 28, has been out of action since September due to a problematic hip injury that was operated on last month.
The former Middlesbrough midfielder, who started the season well for Leeds, had kept on being close to returning to action, only to see his recovery regress time after time.
In February, a decision was taken for Forshaw to jet out to the USA to undergo surgery on his hip, meaning that his season would definitely be over.
However an update by BBC Radio Leeds’ Pope says that the 28-year-old should be able to walk freely next week and that he is ahead of schedule in his recovery.
Forshaw was originally ruled out for the rest of the season with the view to him returning to fitness during Leeds’ pre-season training programme in the summer.
However the fact that the current season has now been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, there is a chance that Forshaw’s return to action could come sooner.
If the season is still being played into June and July then Forshaw might have recovered from his surgery by then.
It might be optimistic to think that but the midfielder will no doubt be motivated to try and achieve that if he can.
In other Leeds United news, Manchester City want the Whites to sign this £13.6million Brazilian on loan from them in the summer.
