Bayern Munich unlikely to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha in January

Bayern Munich are not likely to sign Leeds United forward Raphinha in January, according to reliable journalist Christian Falk.

The Head of Football of German outlet Bild claims on their website that the Bundesliga giants will only look to strengthen in the attacking position if they lose a winger during the winter transfer window.

TNT Sports Brazil claimed on Christmas Eve that both clubs have agreed a £42million deal that will see the Brazil international, 25, swap Elland Road for the Allianz Arena next month, but sources close to the German club have poured cold water on those rumours.

Good news

Losing a player as influential as Raphinha midway through the 2021-22 campaign is the last thing Leeds want right now, and the reports from Brazil could be efforts from his representatives to keep drumming up interests in him.

Bayern have a plethora of options on their wings right now that are firing on all cylinders, and it just does not make sense for them to pay £42million to bring in another one.

The west Yorkshire outfit will not be willing to cash in on him right now either.

Raphinha is the reason Leeds have managed to stay away from the relegation zone so far this term, and he also played a huge role in their ninth-placed finish in 2020-21.

Leeds United

They need him to retain their top-flight status going forward in the current campaign, and it is good to see trusted sources from Germany quell the rumours.

Nevertheless, fans will only be confident of him staying when the January window shuts with him still with the Elland Road outfit, and we could have some interesting few weeks ahead.
