Bayern Munich identify Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier young heir to Manuel Neuer

Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on signing Chelsea and Manchester United-linked Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier in the summer.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla [15 April], the Champions League side have identified the Frenchman as the young heir to Manuel Neuer.

They want someone to work alongside Yann Sommer and eventually make the number one position his own at the Allianz Arena.

Big money move?

It’s pretty evident that with Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern keen on his services, Meslier’s going to be worth good money if he’s on the market.

Leeds may want to keep him at the club, but if he’s got his heart set on a move to a club that can pay him better and fulfil his ambition to compete for trophies, then he may want to leave.

This season, his performances have not even been up to the mark so Leeds fans won’t be too fussed about him leaving the club.

His exit may leave a void, but it will bring in good money that can be spent on a quality keeper, perhaps one that’s in his prime.

Meslier is still pretty raw and most clubs buying him will be investing in his potential rather than looking to him as the finished article.

At Bayern, should he play for a couple of years as Sommer’s understudy, he will perhaps learn the ropes better and become a polished goalkeeper.

Filling Neuer’s shoes is going to be a huge deal for Meslier as the German is a club legend along with being a World Cup and Champions League winner.
