Barry Douglas: Kalvin Phillips will attract serious interest in summer

Barry Douglas has insisted that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will attract serious interest this summer.

The Yorkshire Pirlo has been the name on everyone’s lips already at the EUROs after his masterclass in the win over Croatia.

Douglas, who has left the Whites this summer, believes that Phillips has “unbelievable” attributes that everyone will want.

Speaking to talkSPORT on Thursday, Douglas believes that Phillips will have many clubs watching closely over the next month.

“Kalvin has unbelievable attributes,” he said.

“He’s arguably the best at Leeds, one of the best in England, but he’s also excelled further forward.

“It’s no surprise. He can go as far as he wants, he’s going to draw big suitors if he keeps doing what he’s doing.”

New contract.

Despite Phillips having another three years left on his current deal, handing him a new contract would instantly put off suitors.

We have seen the likes of Real Madrid credited with interest after only one game at the EUROs, imagine how many more will be in the media should he continue throughout the tournament.

Douglas has seen the Yorkshire Pirlo close up every single day in training, and he will know just how remarkable this transformation has been.

Phillips is the star on everyone’s lips right now, and Andrea Radrizzani may have to take action quickly to secure one of his best players at Elland Road.

It would be unforgivable to let Phillips leave this summer, he is integral to all of our future plans, and he is the one who we must build this team around.

He is going nowhere.
