Bari reach agreement in principle with Leeds United to sign Elia Caprile

Serie B side Bari have reportedly reached an agreement in principle to sign Leeds United sensation Elia Caprile this summer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio (June 20, 20:23), they are set to secure the services of the 20-year-old out of favour Leeds goalkeeper.

He spent last season on loan at Serie C club Pro Patria and will now move a division higher to take his career to the next level.

Di Marzio also took to Twitter to write, “Calciomercato #SerieB | #Bari: agreement in principle for #Caprile, goalkeeper of #LeedsUnited last year on loan to #ProPatria.”

Good riddance

Caprile joined Leeds in the summer of 2020 and it was always going to be a long shot for him to make a first-team bow.

He was promoted to the Chievo senior team but did not make his debut and the same thing happened at Elland Road as well.

Spending a loan in Italy’s third tier isn’t exactly the barometer one would gauge a goalkeeper by and that proved to be the case.

He would’ve been sent out on loan again this summer, but it now seems like he wants out permanently and Bari are willing to take the punt on him.

It will be interesting to see how much Leeds can fetch from his sale as he did not play a single senior game for the club.

Whatever it is, will be valuable income as the spending for this summer is only getting started and Jesse Marsch needs to be backed more in the window.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has shared if a ‘Sensational’ defensive midfielder has agreed terms for an Elland Road switch and become the club’s fourth summer signing.
