Barcelona and Rangers join Leeds United in transfer battle to sign Nicolas Raskin
Barcelona and Rangers have reportedly joined Leeds United in the race to sign Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin in the January transfer window.
According to Voetbal Nieuws [December 20], the Whites thus far are the only Premier League club keen on securing his services.
The 21-year-old has refused to sign an extension to his deal which expires in the summer and his exit is set in stone with Liege hoping to cash in on him in January.
Raskin is all but set to leave and if not January, he will be a free agent at the end of the season and there’ll be a queue of clubs lining up to sign him.
At 21, he is one of the next big things in Belgium and there’s a very good chance that the national team and their new manager takes a punt on him in the coming months.
This means that his demand will only rise and if Leeds are to sign him, then January is perhaps their best chance of securing his services.
However, with clubs like Rangers and Barcelona looking to sign him, things may get a lot more difficult for the Whites.
Both sides can offer him European football (Rangers next season) and Barcelona still have the pull of an elite club, something Leeds do not.
Hopefully, Victor Orta touches base with him as soon as possible as he’s undoubtedly a priceless asset for the future and could be Mateusz Klich’s long-term heir.
