'Astronomical' - Sky Sports pundit predicts Leeds clash v Cardiff
David Prutton has predicted that Leeds United will win an eighth consecutive game when they take on Cardiff City at Elland Road on Saturday.
Leeds went top of the Championship table on Tuesday with a 2-0 win against Hull City while West Brom, who played 24 hours later, dropped points in a 1-1 draw away at Wigan.
There is now an 11-point gap between Leeds and third-placed Fulham and, according to Sky Sports pundit Prutton, that gap could be something that other clubs will struggle to close.
Based on his predictions this week, it could be a gap that grows ever bigger with Prutton tipping Leeds to win 2-0 against Cardiff.
“It is going to take a huge collapse from Leeds now to not keep pushing for automatic promotion. They head into the weekend top of the table, 11 points clear of third. It is an astronomical gap at this stage,” said Prutton on the Sky Sports website.
“Neil Harris tasted defeat for the first time as Cardiff boss in midweek, and a trip to Elland Road is not the ideal place to try and bounce back. I can’t really see them getting anything.”
It would be a surprise if Leeds were to lose this game.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men were not at their best on Tuesday night when they won 2-0 against Hull but you can bet that the Argentine will have said something or done something in training to get a better display out of them on Saturday.
Cardiff have won just once away from home all season while Leeds have won seven, drawn two and lost once at Elland Road.
Prutton may well be spot on with his prediction for this weekend.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are likely to rake in over £1million from one match next month.
