Arsenal interest in Leeds United winger Raphinha is 'contingent' on Nicolas Pepe exit

Arsenal’s reported interest in Leeds United winger Raphinha is “contingent” on Nicolas Pepe leaving the Emirates, as reported by The Athletic.

The Athletic reported on 14 June, that Arsenal are keen on the 25-year-old Brazilian winger who looks set to depart Elland Road this summer.

It has since been shared by the website’s David Ornstein on Friday 17 June, that any move for the Brazilian is dependent on Pepe leaving the Emirates.

However, there has been a suggestion that Pepe and Arsenal are “keen” for his exit to take place.

Formality

Raphinha leaving Leeds looks somewhat of a formality at present with a host of Europe’s biggest clubs vying for his signature.

A move to the Emirates would be a surprise with the Gunners languishing in the Europa League for next season.

Raphinha is adored in Yorkshire, he can only leave for one of Europe’s top clubs that are featuring and competing in the Champions League.

Leaving Leeds for Arsenal just doesn’t quite sit right and surely the chances of a move are unlikely?

Chelsea would be a far better option for the winger if he wants to have a chance of winning trophies.

Leeds’ fans cannot blame Raphinha for wanting to test himself at the highest level of club football.

He’s a regular for a top-class Brazilian side and one of the Premier League’s most exciting players, he simply cannot be featuring for a side that is outside the top six at the very minimum.

It is crucial that Jesse Marsch doesn’t let the winger’s transfer saga run deep into the summer.
