Archie Gray appears closer than ever to Leeds United debut, may get minutes v Wolves

Leeds United youngster Archie Gray could be in line for some minutes against Wolves after Tyler Adams’ recent injury.

The United States international has been a key player for the Whites this season and his absence will leave a major void in the midfield.

While Marc Roca and Weston McKennie are expected to start, in case Javi Gracia names a midfield three, he could pick either Gray or Darko Gyabi.

He went on record to say that both players are on his radar too: “Darko is one option, the same with another young player as well, Archie. These are the players [who] are usually training with us in that position.

“Now we have Marc [Roca], Weston [McKennie], Darko [and] Archie [who] are the players. They usually train as midfielders and we have to take the decision for the next games, if Tyler is out, to choose the best option for us.”

On 17 March, the Whites even gave him his first professional contract at the club as he’s committed his future to Elland Road until 2025.

The perfect way to show him that they’ve got faith in him is to put him on the bench against Wolves and then bring him on.

Gyabi is another option, but he’s already made his senior debut and it’s perhaps Gray’s turn after being in contention for over a year.

He’s regularly trained with the first team as well under three different managers and we do not think he’ll be out of place if given a chance.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
