Andy Hinchcliffe cannot believe ‘nasty’ incident in Leeds United win v Ipswich

Andy Hinchliffe couldn’t believe what he saw during the Leeds United game against Ipswich Town on Saturday (23 December).

Speaking on Sky Sports Main Event (01:56pm), the pundit said he could understand why the Whites players were “not happy” after Nathan Broadhead put in a “nasty challenge” on Archie Gray.

He added that you “never want to see that” as there was no intention from the Welsh forward to play the ball, with Daniel Farke’s side securing a 4-0 victory at Elland Road.

“I can understand why the Leeds players are not happy because Broadhead is just taking out Archie Gray here,” said Hinchcliffe. “You never want to see that. There is no intention there to play the ball, it’s a nasty challenge.”

Poor

It was such a poor challenge from Broadhead on Gray and he was perhaps lucky to come away from it without receiving a red card.

The forward made no intention whatsoever to play the ball as it purely looked as though he was out to leave one on the 17-year-old in this situation.

The Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna clearly realised that the Welshman was fortunate after he replaced him just a minute later.

The challenge was probably borne out of frustration as the England U-20 international played a significant role in helping his side secure a comfortable victory while limiting the Tractor Boys to very little.

The result still leaves the Whites seven points behind their Championship promotion rivals, but it should give them confidence that they can finish above them with plenty of games left to play this season.
