Andrea Radrizzani has admitted that Leeds United have been “screwed” by Marseille striker Bamba Dieng on transfer deadline day.
The Senegal international had agreed personal terms with the Whites and was set to fly into West Yorkshire to complete the move before changing his mind and deciding on a move to OGC Nice instead.
Radrizzani had even welcomed the striker earlier in the day, but insisted it was all part of the “madness” on deadline day, with a new striker now unlikely.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Radrizzani responded as messages started to come in left, right and center regarding the big news of today.
“Part of the madness of deadline day,” he wrote.
“We have been screwed up, it happens even to the best ones. We have done a great market, planned and executed our targets at very early stage. Keep going.”
We can’t believe that Radrizzani is still running his mouth, or in this case, his fingers.
When will he learn just to keep his mouth shut and get on with the business behind the scenes and then react to it once it is 100% complete and nothing can go wrong.
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened on a deadline day during his tenure, and although it is not his fault, it also happened with Dan James years ago.
Now, the Welshman is set to move on to join Fulham and no one will be coming in to replace him as things stand before 11 pm at Elland Road.
We are all pulling our hair out waiting for these developments, and it is because we have been led up the garden path by our boardroom talking about all of these transfers.
Anything can still happen, and we have everything crossed that something can be pulled out of the hat and a new attacker is unveiled in the next three hours.
In other Leeds United news, Kaveh Solhekol has reported that another striker transfer is now on the cards before 11 pm
