Ally McCoist reacts to what Daniel Farke said amid Leeds United controversy v Rotherham
Ally McCoist and Andy Townsend have reacted to what Daniel Farke said about the handball incident surrounding Patrick Bamford in the Leeds United game against Rotherham United on Saturday (10 February).
After listening to the Whites boss suggest he would have to watch the incident back, McCoist insisted on talkSPORT on Monday (12 February, 06:56am) that he didn’t need to do that as it was “as blatant of a handball as you’ll ever see”, with the 30-year-old forward finding the back of the net with his arm in the 3-0 victory over the Millers.
The German also claimed that his side were probably due a decision after having so many go against them this season, but Townsend said every coach believes “we were due one”, adding that there must be some out there that have “had a few” go their way.
“I’ll just let Daniel know, you don’t need to watch it back,” said McCoist. “It’s as blatant of a handball as you’ll ever see.”
“He’s selling it, isn’t he?” added Townsend. “He runs over to the fans and he sort of does something with his elbow as if to say ‘I’ve just knocked one in with my arm’. Every coach always says, ‘we were due one’, every coach says it. Hold on, there must be a few coaches out there that have had a few.”
Not a good look for Patrick Bamford or Leeds United
It’s no secret that Bamford is someone who has always divided the opinion of many supporters, not just at Leeds but also across the country following some of his previous antics.
At the end of the day, this was plain cheating from the forward and it’s really not something people want to see happen in the game.
It was poor from the officials to not spot the incident in real-time but to claim that goal was just wrong, even if the stakes are so high in the Whites’ bid for promotion.

If that situation had happened at the other end, then the fans would have rightly been absolutely furious that the goal was allowed to stand.
There is a very good chance that the result wouldn’t have been any different had that goal not gone in, but it just doesn’t sit right when something like that happens.
