Alex Mowatt thrilled by former Leeds teammate Kalvin Phillips
Alex Mowatt has been thrilled by the performances of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips since Marcelo Bielsa arrived at the club.
The Yorkshire Pirlo has established himself in the England squad since promotion to the Premier League, having the Whites squad built around him.
Mowatt admits that Phillips fully deserves international recognition, and proves it more with every passing appearance on that stage.
Speaking on Wednesday afternoon, Mowatt admitted that he has been blown away by every single game he has watched Phillips play.
“I’m so happy for him,” he told Sky Sports.
“He’s done unbelievable. I think since Bielsa’s come in, he’s been ridiculous and he’s got Leeds promoted as well.

“Rightly so, he’s been called up to the England squad. Every game I’ve watched and I’m buzzing for him and I think he’s done really well in the games as well.”
Awestruck.
Phillips has been unbelievable ever since Bielsa took charge at Elland Road, and it is hard to think of another player who has benefitted more.
The 25-year-old was still being used as a box-to-box midfielder who loved to bomb into the final third, but his move into a holding quarterback has been the making of him.
Bielsa has transformed Phillips physically and mentally, and Phillips himself will know that has been a major turning point in his career.
From playing in the Championship consistently with no real interest to playing for England and in the Premier League doesn’t happen by fluke, and Phillips has earned that.
Not many will know Phillips better than Mowatt, with both growing up together at Thorp Arch, imagine them coming up against each other in the Premier League next season; there is only one winner.
