Alex Crook: Newcastle United unlikely to prize Jack Harrison away from Leeds United

Alex Crook believes that Leeds United will keep Jack Harrison after suggesting that Newcastle United won’t be able to prize him away from Elland Road.

It had been reported by Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie [9 August] that the Magpies could revisit a move for the 25-year-old winger.

However, Crook has suggested that any chances of Harrison departing are now very slim.

Talking on talkSPORT’s Gameday Podcast [16 August, 48:30], he said: “I think they’ll be fine this season and I think they’ll keep Jack Harrison now.

“I don’t see Newcastle paying the kind of money to prize him away now and obviously he had a big hand in both goals against Southampton.

“I think they’ll be fun to watch because they’ll score goals but also concede their fair share as well.”

Big season for Harrison

The 2022/23 Premier League season could be a profitable season for Harrison with a move away from Elland Road now looking extremely unlikely.

Leeds United under Jesse Marsch are going to be much like they were under Marcelo Bielsa, where goals and chances should flow.

With a Marsch playing a slightly more direct and incisive style of play, Harrison could thrive with numerous goalscoring opportunities heading his way this season.

The former Manchester City man could take his game to the next level this campaign and become an asset for Leeds with his contract edging towards its conclusion.

His cross for Rodrigo’s first goal on Saturday at St Mary’s demonstrated the quality that he possesses from wide areas and the opportunities that he could potentially create for the likes of Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford this season.

With the news that he is likely to stay at Elland Road emerging, this could well be a huge season for Harrison.
