Alan Shearer names Leeds United stars Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison in Premier League Team of the Week after Wolves win
Illan Meslier and Jack Harrison were both named in the Premier League Team of the Week by Alan Shearer after Leeds United beat Wolves.
The English winger scored an early sixth-minute opener at Molineux while the French goalkeeper produced a number of saves in a dramatic game which had everything.
Julen Lopetegui was left raging following the 4-2 Whites win after Jonny was sent off and Matheus Nunes was also shown red on the bench, but Javi Gracia’s side scored the goals that mattered and held out in the face of a first-half attacking onslaught.
The Premier League Twitter account shared Shearer’s selected XI on Monday afternoon (20 March), with the two Elland Road standouts involved.
The result leaves Leeds United in 14th place heading into the international break and feeling much more confident about matters, although the gap to the bottom three is just two points in an historically congested relegation battle.

That United took a lead into the break was in large part thanks to Meslier, as well as Max Wober, and in truth there wasn’t a great deal that the 23-year-old could do about both goals he conceded.
He drew some criticism for being lobbed from long range by Jonny for home sides’ first with the score at 3-0, but having rushed out of his goal to head clear he was sold out by Marc Roca, who aimlessly diverted the ball straight to the Wolves man to fire into an empty net.
The second from Matheus Cunha came from a deflection off the unfortunate Wober, who himself can probably feel disappointed to have been overlooked after his excellent overall performance.
Harrison made another key contribution with the early goal, a week after he assisted and scored in the 2-2 with Brighton (11 March).
In a game which displayed some of the hall marks of a chaotic Jesse Marsch match the former Manchester City man’s overall display once again still had room for improvement, but if he continues to contribute to the scoreboard in the way he did to start the season it will be hugely beneficial to this relegation battle.
