Alan Nixon: Leeds United still hold an interest in Rangers star Ryan Kent

According to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon, Leeds United still want to sign Ryan Kent and are “are still seeking” that type of player.

The Whites were heavily linked with a move for the Rangers man during the last summer transfer window and had one bid turned down by the Gers for Kent [Sky Sports].

However, it seems as if the Whites still maintain their interest in signing Kent, and after the stellar season he had for Rangers, this should come as no surprise.

Kent, a worthwhile signing?

It was clear from the pursuit last year that Marcelo Bielsa was a huge fan of the 24-year-old, so it is no surprise to see him still being linked with a move to Elland Road.

The former Liverpool man is versatile and played in four different positions during the 2020/21 campaign for the Gers.

He also scored 13 goals and provided 15 assists across all competitions, which was a major improvement on the 2019/20 campaign.

However, with Rangers playing Champions League football in the upcoming season, would Kent want to leave Ibrox just yet?

That remains to be seen, but if Leeds were to come in strongly for the player, then surely the chance to play under Bielsa, who has a reputation for improving players, would convince Kent to leave Scotland.

Furthermore, could Kent be angling for a return closer to home? He was born in Oldham, and a move to West Yorkshire would move him significantly closer than his current destination of Glasgow.

It will be intriguing to see what happens next, but Nixon has confirmed that the Whites are interested in Kent, and this could be a transfer to watch as the window progresses.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are set to confirm major signing today.
