Leeds United set for Tuesday Junior Firpo announcement after Monday photos

Leeds United will officially clinch the signing of Junior Firpo on Tuesday, according to Spanish radio broadcaster Gerard Romero.

The Esports RAC1 journalist made the claim on his personal Twitter profile on Monday night.

Romero wrote: “Tomorrow the Leeds-Barcelona agreement for Junior Firpo will be made official. The player today had photos and did his signature. Tomorrow we will have all the graphic material.”

Is today the day?

Surely we will see Firpo officially unveiled as a Leeds United player today (Tuesday, July 6).

Anticipation has been growing and it’s almost reached fever-pitch – there have been various sightings of him at Thorp Arch and in West Yorkshire recently, as well as photos of him in a Whites shirt, though the validity of those have not been confirmed.

However, all signs point towards a Tuesday announcement by the club.

It has been relayed by various news outlets and prominent journalists that all that was remaining was the successful completion of Firpo’s medical, and that has surely been finished now.

The requirement for Firpo has been heightened since Monday night’s club announcement that Ezgjan Alioski will not be returning to Leeds this summer following the expiration of his contract last month.

The North Macedonia international was the man mainly entrusted to undertake the role of left-back by Marcelo Bielsa last season, and his exit leaves a huge gap that needs to be filled.

There are no other natural, senior options in that position, though Stuart Dallas has proven himself to be a quality player there in the past.

However, he is much more vital in the centre of midfield, and Firpo’s impending arrival will allow him to continue to flourish in that position.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in the hunt to sign this EUROs semi-final sensation who wowed Micah Richards in June.
