Agent refuses to comment on Leeds-Belmonte rumours

Leeds United have been linked with a move for Lanus attacking midfielder Tomas Belmonte, according to LUFC Fan Zone.

The only link on Twitter is from an account called “La Secta Granate” but they only have 88 followers, so is hardly reputable.

They suggested that Belmonte could be completing his final hours at the Argentinian club, and could only cost the Whites £7.7million.

LUFC FANZONE decided to investigate the so-called link, and got in touch with the agent of Belmonte on Saturday.

Writing on their official Twitter account, they shared a not-so confident response from his representatives.

“Leeds have been linked with a move for Larnus’ Argentinian youth international midfielder Tomas Belmonte this morning,” he said.

“We have managed to get in contact with his agent, however, he is currently declining to comment on the links.”

Silence.

If there were nothing in these so-called rumours, the agent would surely have just come out and shut them down.

Who is Belmonte?

According to Transfermarkt, the 23-year-old is worth just below £6million, although the supposed asking price is just above that.

Bielsa is said to want another central midfielder, and Belmonte appears to be more attacking than that, and this link may just be because of his Argentinian connection.

It will be interesting to see if this progresses, especially given that Victor Orta has managed to keep most of his dealings under wraps until they are all but done.

Belmonte doesn’t look to be a serious-level target, and if he was, more links will start to appear over the coming weeks – watch this space.
