Agent on John Swift addresses transfer links with Leeds United

The agent of Reading midfielder John Swift has addressed strong January links with Leeds United in recent weeks.

It has been reported by The Star that the Whites are plotting a bid to bring the former Chelsea man to Elland Road,

His agent has shared that no contact has yet been made between the two parties, but that Leeds would be a brilliant move for his client.

Speaking to LUFC FANZONE, as shared on Instagram, Swift’s agent made it clear that a January move isn’t a certainty.

“There’s been a lot of speculation in the media about different Premiership clubs being interested in John.

“At the moment, his sole focus is on playing for Reading and doing the best he can with them.

“Leeds United is a great club and their style of play, manager, and fans would be good for John moving forward in his career, however, no formal approaches have been made that we are aware of by Leeds to Reading at this stage.”

Get it done.

Swift and his agent are clearly very open to a switch to Elland Road.

If anything has been made clear in recent weeks, it is certainly that the Whites are crying out for a new midfielder.

Marcelo Bielsa has been using Adam Forshaw since his return, but Mateusz Klich also proved that he is losing his once-reliable self in the middle of the park.

The Polish international was once again poor in the 2-1 defeat at Spurs, and having more options would make it more competitive.

Given that Swift’s contract runs out next summer, there is only a handful of months before talks can open over a pre-contract move for free.

Victor Orta could try and work his magic with a cheap move in January but it remains to be seen if that’s how Reading want it to end up.

There’s no harm in trying.
