The EFL announced today that their “primary objective” is to finish the remaining fixtures in the 19/20 Championship season.
That’s the best indication yet for Leeds fans that the remaining nine games will get played out at some point in the future.
Reacting on Drive (talkSPORT, Wednesday, 6.pm), both Adrian Durham and Darren Gough said that the right decision had been made.
“It’s the right thing,” said Durham. “Some people were saying void the season, some were saying let’s promote Leeds and West Brom right now, which didn’t sit right with me.
“Whether they can do it or not is the next question as no one knows how long this is going to last.”
Gough agreed saying, “Rick Parry, the EFL chairman, that’s what he wanted. The clubs, most of the clubs were keen to finish the season, and the right decision has been made. When it happens is the next question.”
There’s generally no love lost between Leeds fans and the EFL, but the reaction to this official announcement has been overwhelmingly possible.
This tweet is not the sort of thing you’d expect from a Leeds fan but it shows you that they have made the correct decision today.
Tell you what, fair play to the EFL.
There, I said it. #LUFC

Both Durham and Gough make good points though.
Saying they want to play the rest of the season out is one thing. Now we have to wait to see when this is going to be possible.
UEFA had said they wanted domestic games finished by June 30 but that’s looking optimistic.
We think a June/July finish is likely and that will probably involve games being played behind closed doors.
Either way, it’s set to be a very unique end to the season.
