Adrian Clarke has claimed that Leeds United are "weaker" than they were last season and that Daniel Farke is "tactically not the best".

The Whites currently find themselves third in the Championship and five points behind Sunderland, who occupy the top spot in the Championship.

A 0-0 draw with Bristol City last time out meant that Farke's side dropped two points in a frustrating performance and Clarke thinks that Leeds have not shown the same strength that they showed last season.

Speaking on the What The EFL podcast (31 October), Clarke said: "They just haven’t blown us away yet have they? They haven’t blown anyone away yet really, Coventry aside.

"They don’t look at fluid as they did last year, their finishing is a bit off as well.

"I still think they’re weaker than they were, and I still think that Daniel Farke is tactically not the best and that he relies on magic, he relies on individuals like (Willy) Gnonto."

Are Leeds United weaker this season?

Comparing seasons is often irrelevant as standards change, players change and different teams surprise but ultimately, Leeds are one point better off than they were at the same stage last season. Granted, it can be argued the competition lost a bit of quality but their performances haven't changed much. Certainly not for the worse.

After 12 games last campaign, the Whites had won six, drawn four and lost two.

Compare that to this season where they have won six, drawn five and lost one. On paper, that is a stronger start. They also have a four-better goal difference.

Leeds, like the other sides at the top, do have their deficiencies but their quality can not be doubted and to assume they won't challenge for the top two would be ludicrous. They will certainly be up there and Farke will play a big part in that.

The German will be used to facing outside criticism for his role at Leeds but he won't let it bother him as he continues to work towards achieving the club's goal of returning to the Premier League.
