Adam Pope: Max Dean due to sign first professional contract at Leeds United
Leeds United talent Max Dean is due to sign his first professional contract at Elland Road, according to Adam Pope.
The BBC journalist shared the news on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday, with the young striker having turned 17-years-old this week.
Dean has made the jump into the under-23s side this season after he arrived on a two-year scholarship deal from Premier League rivals Everton.
The young striker was relatively unknown at the start of this season, with Mark Jackson using a number of options from the senior and younger squads in his under-23s selections.
Dean has scored six goals in his seven starts, and even did the business against League Two side Barrow in the Papa John’s Trophy, scoring twice against senior opposition.
Many Whites fans have showered Dean in praise for his performances for the under-23s this seaosn, with the majority felt awestruck during a recent win over Middlesbrough.
With Dean prospering in the age-group above his own, it is clear he is being fast-tracked at Elland Road, and the next step in that is his first professional deal.
This won’t be the first, and it won’t be the last at Thorp Arch.
Dean is one of the youngest talents to come through and start thriving for the under-23s but is following in the footsteps of the likes of Nohan Kenneh and Charlie Cresswell.
They are being tipped for the first-team, and it may not be long until Dean follows suit.
