Adam Pope: Kalvin Phillips spotted limping after Leeds win v Southampton
Leeds United racked up another impressive Premier League win over Southampton on Tuesday evening.
Marcelo Bielsa made a number of changes to his side at St Mary’s, starting the likes of Liam Cooper and Kiko Casilla in the victory.
That didn’t change the outcome though, even with Kalvin Phillips and Diego Llorente being substituted at half-time of the 2-0 win.
Worryingly, it appears as though one of those changes was forced.
BBC journalist Adam Pope has shared a major update on his personal Twitter account, with Phillips leaving the stadium with an obvious limp.
“Philips limping slightly as he leaves St Mary’s,” he wrote.
Big Worry.
The Premier League season concludes on Sunday, so it isn’t a massive issue for the Whites.
On a personal note, it could be heart-breaking for Phillips, with the European Championships coming up next month.
It is surely a guarantee that the Yorkshire Pirlo will miss the clash against West Brom now, with Bielsa giving his international players rests ahead of the major tournament.
We hope that it is only minor like his limp suggests, and have everything crossed for the midfield maestro, as he deserves this chance massively.
It was another massive win, and Phillips was in overdrive during that first half, as the Whites were not at their usual best on the south coast.
Pascal Struijk will likely come into that role, just as he did in devastating fashion in the second half, he really threw himself around.
Fingers crossed for Kalv.
