Adam Pope: Adam Forshaw didn't report for pre-season testing at Leeds
Adam Forshaw wasn’t spotted at Leeds United pre-season training yesterday as preparations began.
Rather than reporting to Thorp Arch, the squad were welcomed to Leeds Beckett University’s Carnegie School.
Adam Pope and the BBC team were present, releasing interviews with the likes of Rodrigo as they completed their first full pre-season with the Whites.
The BBC journalist was quizzed on which players were present, with certain mainstays still currently away at the EUROs.
Writing on his personal Twitter account, Pope responded to a fan asking on whether or not Forshaw was present.
“Didn’t see him today, to be honest,” he said.
“But the players weren’t altogether at any one time over a big facility at Leeds Beckett.”
Forshaw has been missing for nearly two years now and hinted at his return for the under-23s at the end of last season.
After picking up yet another problem in that win over Aston Villa, the midfielder was set aside for another spell on the sideline.
The former Middlesbrough maestro hasn’t trained with the first team throughout this forced absence and could be by himself in the gyms working on his strength and fitness yet again.
Leeds’ squad were put through their paces intensely at the university, and Forshaw most likely wasn’t ready for that.
We will get answers in the coming weeks, especially with the friendlies lined up in three weeks time; he will need to feature in those to have any chance of being in the squad at Manchester United.
