Adam Crafton: Daniel James needs convincing to seal Leeds United move
Daniel James still needs to be convinced about a permanent move to Leeds United, according to The Athletic journalist Adam Crafton.
The Manchester United attacker forward is open to leaving Old Trafford this summer, with the Red Devils keen on a permanent or temporary deal.
While Leeds are very much keen on bidding for the 23-year-old Wales international, getting a deal done could take a lot of talks with the player himself.
Crafton posted on his personal Twitter account on Monday afternoon: “Actually think this would be a bit of a shame if it happens.
“Think there are games Man Utd benefit from his pace/work rate.
“Martial more dispensable in my opinion but in Leeds, Man Utd have a willing bidder.
“Daniel James still needs convincing to move permanently.”
Unfortunate
Having almost joined Leeds in January 2019 only for a move to fall through at the very last minute, it appears the Welshman remains sceptical over finally moving to Elland Road.
Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa remains an admirer of the Man Utd ace and will be more than keen to get a deal done for him.
However, the Whites may need to settle for a loan deal as James is not willing to leave Old Trafford permanently.
While the return of Cristiano Ronaldo means his chances of playing regularly are limited this season, he will fancy his chances of returning next season and forcing his way into manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.
Leeds cannot afford a repeat of the 2019 incident, and they need to get this move done hours before the deadline on Tuesday.
A lack of time played a huge role in seeing a move fall through at the time after speculation of a disagreement between Swansea City owners and the Yorkshire club regarding the structure of the deal only an hour before the transfer window’s 11 pm deadline.
Lightning does not strike twice, and there could be some interesting hours ahead.
