AC Milan want Charles De Ketelaere to 'declare his will' amid Leeds United interest
AC Milan want Charles De Ketelaere to “declare his will” to join them amid strong interest from Leeds United, as per Gazzetta dello Sport.
The famous pink newspaper reported in their print edition on 8 July (page 1) that AC Milan want the young forward to convince Club Brugge to wrap up the deal with the Serie A giants.
Milan have offered £17m plus bonuses which is way behind the club’s valuation of the player. The Rossoneri understand that they compete with Leeds if there’s a bidding war.
While the Whites have a “beautiful stadium”, they cannot offer the grandeur of European football at San Siro.
Milan are ready to offer him a five-year deal at the club where he will a handsome salary.
What are we waiting for?
Despite landing as many as six new players this summer, but there could be one or two more additions before the end of the window.
De Ketelaere would be a blockbuster signing for the club.
The Whites need to sign a new striker this summer. They cannot rely on Patrick Bamford alone to deliver who struggled the entire last season with injuries.
Joe Gelhardt is too young and raw to play week in and week out, while the likes of Daniel James and Rodrigo failed to provide assurance that they can be a reliable backup option.
To be fair, De Ketelaere is not an out-and-out striker either. He is primarily a left-sided attacking midfielder, who can play as a centre-forward or drop deep if needed.
In 2021-22, he scored 18 goals and supplied 10 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions for Brugge, and no wonder why Leeds and Milan are so keen to land him.
Leeds must look to drag Milan into a bidding war and tempt Brugge into selling their prized asset.
In other Leeds United news, this Whites star has informed the club he refuses to participate in pre-season preparations.
