Raphinha refuses to take part in Leeds United pre-season preparations
Raphinha has told Leeds United that he is unwilling to “participate in pre-season preparations”, according to Marca.
The Spanish newspaper reported on their website on Wednesday (6 July) that within the coming days, Barcelona should have secured themselves a financial boost that will lead to them submitting an official bid for the 25-year-old Brazil winger.
It is understood that while Chelsea are willing to match Leeds’ demands for Raphinha, the ex-Rennes attacker wants to sign for Barcelona and his agent Deco is “in permanent contact with the Catalan club”.
Marca adds that Deco was at Barca’s training headquarters last week for talks with the La Liga club’s top brass and he’s since told Raphinha to wait for a move by the Spaniards instead of accepting Chelsea’s approach.
If this is true then Raphinha needs to go as soon as possible.
He should not be refusing to take part in pre-season training. He should be keeping his head down and getting on with his job and letting Deco do the dirty work instead.
We’re not impressed with Deco.
He’s seemingly doing everything he can to get Raphniha to join Barcelona even though the Spanish club have next to nothing to spend due to their financial crisis.
Chelsea can pay for Raphinha and pay what Leeds want for the Brazilian.
And even though the London club is one of Deco’s former sides, he’s willing to mess their plans up – and Leeds’ – by pandering to Barca.
How much are they offering to pay him for this, exactly?
We’d rather Raphinha joined Barcelona but we’d also rather this reach a conclusion as soon as possible and Barca’s involvement in this deal is boring now.
Either put up or shut up.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have reportedly agreed a club-record fee for another new signing.
