Abel Ferreira would jump at Leeds United job, must make Palmeiras decision in January 2022
Brazilian journalist Marcel Rizzo suggests Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira would jump at the chance to take control at Leeds United.
Rizzo, a journalist at UOL Esporte, claims the 42-year-old has to make a decision over his future at the Brazilian giants by next month (January 2022).
“If Leeds proposes, I’m guessing it’s gone,” Rizzo wrote via his personal Twitter profile on Wednesday (1 December). “Now, Palmeiras can’t wait for the holidays to define, they have to have a coach on January 5th. Abel will need to decide soon.”
Too soon for Whites?
The general consensus is that Leeds cannot afford to wait until the end of the season again for Marcelo Bielsa to announce whether he is extending his Elland Road stay or not.
Of course, the Argentine surely briefs the likes of Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizzani in advance of the official announcement, but that still appears to be later in the season.
But big clubs need to make plans in advance, especially for transfers.
A player that Bielsa may view as perfectly suited to his methods, for example, may not be for someone else.

As such, it’s only right that Leeds line up potential replacements if Bielsa does call it a day in West Yorkshire.
However, he’s unlikely to make that call by the January date set for Ferreira’s Palmeiras decision.
That means the Portuguese boss may have to take a gamble on Leeds, or another big club, swooping in for his services later in the year.
