BT Sport host predicts Leeds United fan fury after Clinton Morrison's Raphinha admission
BT Sport host Darrell Currie suggests there will be fury among Leeds United fans after what Clinton Morrison said about Raphinha at Elland Road.
The broadcasting duo were on hand to present coverage of Leeds’ 1-0 win over Crystal Palace for Amazon Prime Video on Tuesday night (30 November), with the Whites securing victory through a late Raphinha penalty.
Morrison was effusive in his praise for the 24-year-old Brazilian, but also had words on his potential Whites exit.
“You need someone like that when you’re missing your top goalscorer in Patrick Bamford, someone like that to come in and produce like he’s producing, he’s been brilliant,” the Sky Sports pundit said.
“I don’t want to keep talking too much because the Leeds fans will be disappointed I’m trying to sell him.”
Currie replied: They’re furious at you now.”
Morrison: “Oh they can be furious, we’re praising him, we’re telling [them] how good he is.
“We don’t think he’s going to go yet, maybe the end of the season, there’ll be bids coming in for him, but I think Leeds will do well to keep hold of him because he’s a top talent.”
Transfer talk heats up
January is just around the corner now, and that means constant speculation about player transfers.
Even though big-money deals are a rarity mid-season, as opposed to regular blockbuster moves during the summer, that doesn’t stop the reports and rumours.
Indeed, chat about Raphinha seems to have picked up pace in recent weeks.
Seemingly, it doesn’t matter whether an Elland Road exit is actually realistic or not.
It isn’t, of course, with the Whites surely refusing to countenance the thought of the mid-season sale of their best player.
The Brazilian has been all that’s good with the side this season amid their struggles at the beginning of the campaign.
A summer exit could be on the cards as Champions League clubs chase his signature.
But any move is on the backburner for now as Leeds look to climb up the Premier League table and away from danger.
