Leeds United player ratings v Manchester City: Luke Ayling flops, Robin Koch shines
Leeds United suffered a 4-0 defeat in front of their fans at Elland Road against Manchester City on Saturday night (April 30).
Jesse Marsch oversaw the worst defeat of his short tenure as Leeds boss as the Citizens walked all over them.
The visitors continued their title quest while the Whites are now right into the relegation dog fight at the foot of the table.

Here are our player ratings for the game:
Illan Meslier 3
Not an ideal game for the Frenchman as he made just two saves on the day. Did not do a great job in organising his defence too and looked nervy with the ball at his feet on a few occasions.
Stuart Dallas 4
Playing at wing-back exposed a number of flaws in his game but he cannot really be blamed for it as it’s not a position he’s accustomed too. Had to be stretchered off as well so that is a huge worry for Leeds.
Luke Ayling 2
Played as a right centre-back and constantly found himself out of position. He’s not used to sitting back and holding his ground and that was apparent after the first few moments. Lost the ball numerous times and failed to do his job on the defensive side of things.
Robin Koch 6
Was good in the air and certainly the pick of the Leeds defenders on the day. He also was one of the better passers in white and that’s one of the few positives Marsch will take from the game.

Pascal Struijk 5
Had a good game on his return to the starting eleven and could very well partner Koch for the Arsenal clash next week.
Junior Firpo 4
Had a few good moments offensively but his Achilles heel has always been how bad he is on the defensive side of things. Thankfully, playing as a wing-back suited him, but he’s got to improve if he wants a future at the club.
Mateusz Klich 4
Was beaten to all of his aerial duels and most of his ground ones. Defensively, he definitely did not do enough, but was decent while progressing the ball.
Kalvin Phillips 6
Was tasked to man mark Rodri and he did that role pretty well. Apart from that, he did not boss the midfield as many wanted him to, but there was little he could playing for Leeds.
Raphinha 3
Received the ball in tempting positions but never really got to make the most of it. He had players making runs beyond him, but struggled to be on the same page as them.

Rodrigo 4
Early on in the first half, the Spaniard had to run the length of the pitch and slot the ball into the net with nobody standing in between him and Ederson. However, he scuffed his lines and that set the precedent for what was a disappointing outing for him.
Jack Harrison 4
Had few threatening moments against his former side, but much like Rodrigo came out short in the key moments.

Dan James 4
Joe Gelhardt 4

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
