Leeds United have intensified talks to sign Hertha Berlin playmaker Matheus Cunha this weekend.

UOL have reported on their website that the Whites have stepped up their plans to bring the Brazilian to Elland Road.

Marcelo Bielsa is suggested to have requested the signing, just as he did to Victor Orta with Raphinha last season.

Cunha has been selected for Brazil’s squad for this summer’s Olympics.

The attacker will travel to Tokyo over the next couple of months, and would likely miss a huge chunk of pre-season should the move be completed.

It isn’t certain whether or not the tournament would hamper any potential move to the Premier League, or slow them down.

The 23-year-old scored seven goals and added four assists in his 27 Bundesliga appearances – being cautioned nine times.

We asked our esteemed panel of MOT Super Fans if they would want this signing to happen, and the majority demanded it happen.

Some did question if Cunha was going to be as exciting as some would think, with his numbers not exactly high last season.

Bielsa knows best, and if this is one player he specifically requested, we could be in for a real treat next season.
