‘Wow’, ‘Unbelievable’ – Many Leeds fans thrilled by ‘superb’ player who was ‘possessed’ v Stoke

Patrick Bamford has come in for some absolute pelters from Leeds United fans this season but he was absolutely on top of his game against Stoke tonight – and got his deserved goal late on.

Leeds took a very important big step towards promotion with a massive win at Elland Road which restores the six-point buffer to third.

It took a penalty from Mateusz Klich on the stroke of half-time to calm the shredded nerves of Leeds fans but Bielsa’s side very rarely drop points when they go into the lead.

It should have been more. The xG at half-time showed Leeds on 1.89 while Stoke had an incredible 0.09.

Pablo Hernandez came on for Tyler Roberts and that just made Leeds even better, with Helder Costa getting the second early in the second half.

And Bamford caught the eye of Leeds fans, who are happy to get behind their hitman when he puts in a shift, goals or no goals.

One fan said it was the best football he’d played for the club tonight and the best way we could describe him is an absolute nuisance.

He didn’t give the Stoke players a second and ran like his life depended on it.

That’s why Bielsa likes him so much and Bamford found himself on the right side of the fans on Twitter this evening.

He even unselfishly let the ball run under his feet for Hernandez to finish from the edge of the box. That’s pure team spirit from a player who desperately wants to score.

Thankfully, he got his goal right at the end and Bamford was immense tonight.

Here are the best reactions to a brilliant display from Bamford…
