Upson: Marcelo Bielsa clearly unhappy with Bamford after display v Brighton

BBC pundit Matthew Upson has said that Marcelo Bielsa was “clearly unhappy” with Patrick Bamford after a terrible performance from the Leeds United striker.

Leeds lost 2-0 in a game they never got a foothold in and we can’t remember Bamford even getting a touch.

Bamford was taken off before the hour mark and was replaced by Rodrigo, who was equally ineffective.

Writing on the BBC live blog, Matthew Upson said, “A fair substitution to take Patrick Bamford off. He’s not been involved at all.

“His facial expression as he left the pitch and went straight down the tunnel tells it all. He’s not happy with his performance this afternoon and clearly his manager isn’t either.

That’s five games in a row without a goal for Bamford.

Truly, truly awful

The reverse fixture against Brighton was one of our worst performances of the season up until now.

Today’s trumped it. It was absolutely shocking from Leeds.

We can’t remember a more turgid display from our players under Bielsa, it was that bad.

No one really deserves a mention and we’ll be glad to put this one behind us and look ahead to Tottenham.

If any Leeds fans were entertaining a late run at the European places, that’s gone now as well.

Given that, hopefully we can loosen up and play some attacking football for the run-in because we’re not sure if we can sit through another four games like today’s.
