Tim Sherwood astonished at what he saw in Leeds United win v Stoke – ‘Shocking’
Tim Sherwood could not believe his eyes as Leeds United thrashed Stoke City 6-0 on Easter Monday.
Leeds inched closer to securing automatic promotion to the Premier League after running riot over the Potters at Elland Road on 21 April.
Joel Piroe ended his nine-game goal drought in stunning fashion, scoring a hat-trick within 20 minutes of kick-off and adding one more goal to his tally.
Junior Firpo and Wilfried Gnonto also got their name on the scoresheet, allowing Daniel Farke and Co. to tune in to the clash between Burnley and Sheffield United without stress.

It was evident that Stoke were in for a long afternoon as soon as Piroe opened the scoring for Leeds just six minutes into the game.
It took the Dutchman two more minutes to double his lead, as Jayden Bogle intercepted Stoke’s attempt to build up play from the back and set the striker up for a goal.
Leeds | Stat | Stoke |
18 | Shots | 5 |
11 | Shots on target | 1 |
68% | Possession | 32% |
714 | Passes | 354 |
89% | Pass accuracy | 77% |
Sherwood could not believe the way in which the Potters crumbled in the opening 10 minutes of the game, describing them as ‘shocking’.
The Sky Sports pundit also tipped his hat to Bogle, for getting his assist for Piroe spot on.
“Stoke are absolutely shocking”, Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (21 April, 3:09 pm).
“They try to play it out, Bogle steps onto it, drives and times his pass perfectly.”

Elland Road turns attention to Sheffield United
Leeds United will now spend the rest of Easter Monday seeing if Sheffield United drop points in their trip to Burnley later.
The Blades failing to claim all three points at Turf Moor would see the Elland Road outfit book their place in the Premier League next season.
Even if that is not the case, it is only a matter of time before the Whites seal automatic promotion.
Leeds suffered a major heartbreak when they lost against Southampton in the playoff final at Wembley last year, but that will not be the case this time.
Farke has learned from his past mistakes, as he is now on the verge of leading the Peacocks back to the top flight.
