These Leeds fans react to Eddie Nketiah display v Birmingham

Eddie Nketiah got his first start in the Championship today for Leeds United after Patrick Bamford was ruled out of the game with a dead leg.

And things started off well for the Arsenal loanee, who looked sharp up front.

Leeds sailed into a two-goal lead after 21 minutes with goals from Helder Costa and Jack Harrison, and Nketiah held the ball up beautifully in the build-up to the second goal.

That led initially to a number of Leeds fans praising Nketiah and comparing him favourably to Bamford.

However, the praise didn’t last that long.

Birmingham got themselves back in the game after 27 minutes and Leeds and Nketiah seemed to crumble.

Many fans piled on Nketiah in the second half of the first 45 minutes, with several fans questioning his fitness.

Given that he hasn’t played more than 45 minutes in the Championship, that could be a little unfair on the 20-year-old.

However, in his first full game, Nketiah didn’t really impress. He wasn’t in the game much in the second half and Leeds really missed the hold-up play of Bamford.

Nketiah got himself a yellow card for simulation in the 72nd minute and was subbed off with around 10 minutes to go, as Tyler Roberts made his return from injury.

There was plenty more excitement to come in a game Leeds went on to win 5-4 but some Leeds fans think it could be the last time they see Nketiah, with the striker seeming to wave goodbye when he was subbed off.

Here are a selection of Nketiah critics on an afternoon when he didn’t cover himself in glory…
