Stuart Dallas injury: Graham Smyth shares view ahead of Leeds United showdown v Manchester United

Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has offered some hope over Stuart Dallas’ fitness ahead of Leeds United versus Manchester United this weekend.

Dallas, 30, was forced off the field with an injury at Everton last week and while there’s been no official update on the Northern Ireland international’s situation, there have been worries that he’ll be unavailable for Leeds’ upcoming derby showdown at Elland Road.

However, Smyth feels as though there’s a chance Dallas could be involved in what is a massive fixture for the Whites as he says “all hands will be needed at the pumps” on Sunday.

Writing on the YEP website, Smyth said: “Big players, like Raphinha, have to produce big moments.

“Leaders, like Luke Ayling, have to take the bit between their teeth.

“Stuart Dallas might have limped off against Everton but don’t bet on the Ulsterman sitting this one out.”

Playing through the pain?

If Dallas is injured and could do with a weekend off, do not play him.

Bielsa has a tendency to bring players back from injury too early, as he did with Patrick Bamford back in December, so he cannot afford to do it with Dallas.

Let’s face it, even though this is a massive game for all Leeds fans, it’s not one we’re expected to get anything from.

And with Junior Firpo meant to be returning, the left-back position could easily be filled by the summer signing from Barcelona.

Adam Forshaw also needs to start in the midfield, we’re an infinitely worse team without him in the starting line-up.

Elsewhere, we’d be happy for things to stay the same but what Bielsa simply cannot do is mess up his substitutions as he did at Goodison last week.

Tyler Roberts came on at half-time for Raphinha. Really?

Joe Gelhardt has shown he can be an impact sub yet Bielsa pays him next to no attention when we’re under the cosh in matches.

Roberts has done nothing good of note as a substitute this season – stop picking him.

In other Leeds United news, a player has snubbed multiple approaches from the club for a new contract.
